30 Minutes Decant
Decanting
Thirty minutes of decanting is the workhorse for many reds — Tempranillo Reserva, plush Shiraz, older Pinot Noir, and optional Zinfandel. Tannins round slightly and reductive notes blow off without over-oxidizing fragile older wines.
Also known as: Half hour decant, Moderate aeration

FAQ
- Should you decant old Pinot Noir for 30 minutes?
- Older, fragile bottles may need less — taste at 15 minutes and decide; sediment separation is the main goal.
